Far North Kids focuses on providing psychological intervention to children, young people and their families residing in Cairns and the surrounding regions.
We provide both assessment and treatment for kids experiencing a range of difficulties. Currently we can see Private, Medicare & NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan managed.

A Queensland boy originally hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Nick has over 8 years experience in the mental health industry and 6 years as a registered psychologist in rural, remote and now regional Australia. Nick maintains an active interest in providing services to rural and remote areas and services the communities of Weipa and Mt Isa on a rotating monthly schedule. Nick believes where you live should not be a barrier to receiving high quality psychological intervention and assessment and is passionate about early intervention.
Nick has worked with predominantly children and adolescents in non-government, government and the private sector including tertiary mental health services in NSW and QLD servicing children and young people with more acute and complex mental health presentations. Nick is skilled in a multitude of evidence based psychological interventions including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Nick has also recently completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Theraplay (Level 1 accredited). Nick’s practice framework is informed by attachment theory and trauma neurobiology. His clinical interests include working with children and young people who are neurodivergent (ADHD and ASD) as well as those with relational trauma caused by adverse experiences in their early development.
Nick is also skilled in psychometric assessment and is trained in a range of assessment tools to assess for Autism (ADOS-2, ADI-R, MIGDAS), ADHD (Conners 4), Intellectual Disability (WISC-V, WAIS-IV, UNIT-2 and CTONI-2). Nick can also assess for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and complete functional capacity assessments (FCA) for participants under the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Nick holds a Master of Clinical Psychology (Advanced Entry) from the University of Southern Queensland and regularly attends training to upskill as a psychologist. Nick is currently completing a 2 year registrar program in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy under the supervision of Professor Robert Schweitzer with a long term plan to work with adults and those who wish to engage in more longer term and deeper psychotherapy.
